✨ The Story Behind the Song ✨
“Mary’s Child” carries a beautiful and touching story. I first heard it in the Hallmark movie A Christmas Wish during the winter of 2025. The simple arrangement of voice, guitar, and strings accompanied a moving video depicting the birth of Jesus. I was immediately drawn to it; it felt like a song I could have written.
After searching online, I discovered that the song was titled “Mary’s Child.” At the time, the only version I could find was the movie clip on YouTube, so I saved the link for future listening. Several months later, I revisited the video and began searching for more information about the song.
I learned that it was written by Craig Clyde, who also wrote and directed the film. Craig originally composed it for his children with the sole purpose of sharing a message of hope—not seeking profit or royalties. After contacting him through the video link, he generously granted me permission to create this arrangement as a personal gift, supporting the mission of drawing people closer to the Lord and sharing the true meaning of Christmas.
Produced and arranged with David Smith, this version features rich vocal harmonies, a duet with David’s wife, Teresa, and an uplifting acoustic style. I was also honored to have Italian-Canadian composer and pianist Enzo De Rosa perform the piano and create the orchestration, elevating the song to a new level.
I hope “Mary’s Child” brings wonder, peace, and renewed hope to your holiday season while reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas.
God bless!
